Project Overview by NELSON
During the design process for Dover Corporation's World Headquarters, NELSON created a highly visual, ornamental element to act as a two story communicating stair. The initial design vision paired both material and form in a way that would symbolically represent Dover Corporation's individualized, unique manufacturing process. This vision integrated 'large scale' sections of Reclaimed Teak, blackened stainless steel, an open, exposed handrail structure and the crispness of white granite on the landing.
When combined, the individual sections of the communicating stair system become a beautiful, ornamental object of art. The success of the stair design was realized through the integration of the 'large scale' reclaimed teak stair treads from San Juan Ventures.
NELSON determined early on that San Juan Ventures was the the only company that could provide such 'large scale' sections of reclaimed teak. San Juan Ventures managed the process of manufacturing, cutting and shipping to the United States. Without this product offering and the effective, professional management from San Juan Ventures, NELSON's design vision would not have been realized.

San Juan Ventures stair treads are available in Teak, Lychee and Suar in exceptional sizes. The Teak treads featured measure 6 long' x 14" deep x 6" thick. San Juan Ventures is a FSC Certified company featuring a broad range of reclaimed, recycled and salvaged products with 80% of our collection qualifying for LEED points. These solid reclaimed Teak treads are among our LEED products and were sourced from former beams and foundation supports from old factories in Indonesia.
